本文将从跨文化角度出发,结合“文化定势”和萨义德的“东方主义”等理论解读E·M·福斯特《印度之行》。由于英印双方在种族、社会和宗教上所体现出来的文化隔阂以及双方在政治地位上的不平等性,最终导致东西方文化融合的失败,证明福斯特“唯有沟通”的人文主义思想在当时难以实现。
This article will analyze EM Foster’s “trip to India” from the perspective of interculturalism and in combination with the theory of “cultural trends” and Edward Said’s “Orientalism.” Due to the ethnic, social and religious cultural barriers between Britain and India and the unequal political status of both parties, this eventually led to the failure of the integration of Eastern and Western cultures, and proved that Foster “the only communicator” The ideology was difficult to achieve at that time.
