京韵大鼓是我国北方具有代表性的说唱艺术,它是由河北省河间一带的“木板大鼓”和清代流传于八旗子弟间的“清音子弟书”两者合流而形成、发展起来的。演唱者农忙务农,农闲说书,演唱时没有弦索伴奏,只由演唱者自击木板和书鼓因而得名。1870年前后,进入北京、天津等地,因其演唱者多带保定、沧州口音,故又名怯大鼓。后来经胡十、宋五、霍明亮等艺人作初步改革,加进三弦、四胡等伴奏乐器,并以小段代替长篇,逐渐发展成为卫调大鼓、京津大鼓又叫京音大鼓。又经“鼓王”刘宝全用北京的语言声调和吐字发音改造了河北农村的乡土口音,广泛吸取京剧、梆子、时调小曲等曲调创制新腔,定名为京韵大鼓。在京韵大鼓的发展历史上,曾有许多音乐家创作出了不少的经典曲目。根据记载,最早录制唱片的是金桂宝。“1908年,百代公司灌制了一批京韵大鼓唱片,其中有宋二荣的《独占花魁》、高六顺的《鸿雁捎书》、王红宝的《大西厢》、金桂宝的《丑末寅初》、刘宝全的《八喜、八爱》、张小轩的《灯下功夫》等”。通过这些,我们可以推测到这些唱段在当时已经是最为流行的唱段,并且演唱了相当长时间。京韵大鼓的传统曲目很多是演唱列国、三国、水浒等故事中的精彩片段。《丑末寅初》一改以往京韵大鼓的风格。以写景的方式
