The annual statistics from the beginning of October 1997 to the end of September 1998 show that the top three drug categories with the highest sales volume remained unchanged from the previous 12 months. Cardiovascular drugs still topped the list as they did in 1997, with total retail sales worldwide surpassing just $ 3.6 billion, a 6% increase over the previous year at a constant exchange rate.
