TiCl4-Mg and Ti Cl4-Mg-TMEDA as the coupling agent to achieve high diastereoselectivity of aromatic aldehyde reductive coupling reaction.TiCl4-Mg system was modified with three types of chiral reagents, The reaction of benzaldehyde gives a maximum of 50% enantiomeric excess of coupling product.
