Shilu iron ore as early as 1935 has been found. In 1964, when the Hainan Geological Team conducted exploration in the mining area, the strata of the mining area were divided into seven layers and named as “Shilu Group”. The era was identified as “Cambrian - Ordovician.” The descendants proposed different opinions from palaeontology, isotopic age determination and sedimentary construction, etc., suggesting that the era had been referred to from the Precambrian to Triassic. In the absence of reliable fossils to determine the times, so long inconclusive. From March to July 1976, the author participated in the formation work of the research team of South China Railway Metallurgy Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Based on the field observations and the new data of the relevant units in recent years, the author discusses the division of ore-bearing strata and the ownership of the times.
