On the one hand, Faulkner painted the historical destiny of the collapse and demise of the old system and the old order in the South of the United States, and on the other hand revealed his deep nostalgia for it. His short story “A Rose for Emily” commemorates the author’s lament for the decline of the South through the tragic life of the heroine Miss Emily and the “We” respect for her.
