作为一种社会思潮,激进主义总是与社会动荡、变革、改良、革命、战争和冲突等议题联系在一起,在宗教、哲学、文学艺术、文化、政治和法律制度等层面得到充分呈现。在革命或变革年代,激进主义者提出的社会政治观点或见解,往往成为指导性战斗口号或行动纲领,也是人们告别旧观念和旧生活,迎接新思想和新生活的重要手段。当代激进主义思潮既同社会运动和街头政治有着紧密联系,反映着不同利益集团、阶层、种族、民族等要求变革社会现状的诉求、愿望和呼声,又存在重大的风险,不仅向反动保守的敌对势力发起攻击,而且会伤害积极进步的革命力量,对现有社会秩序构成挑战,需要整个社会谨慎对待。
