The problems existent in the Chinese core journals are approached from different aspects of library and information science. The theoretical basis of bibliometrics and the methods for measuring and selecting core journals are reviewed at full length. The introduction of the models of comprehensive evaluation is a successful example of applying fuzzy mathematics method in selecting core journals. The conclusions drawn by the authors justify Bradford’s Law of Scattering, Garfield’s Law of Concentration and other regularities about scientific journals.
