Based on field investigation and sample collection, the mass fraction of arsenic in river sediments of Zhaishang Gold Mine was determined. The existence of arsenic in sediment was extracted by Tessier continuous extraction method. The results showed that arsenic had a higher mass fraction (55.0 ~ 189.0μg.g-1) in the sediments of the area, indicating that the gold mining has affected the environment of the area. The results of Tessier continuous extraction showed that the extraction rates of arsenic in sediment samples ranged from 89.87% to 110.54%, and the distribution of arsenic in sediment samples was basically the same. The residue was the main residue, accounting for more than 85% of the total. The relative content of each form is relatively small, but the relatively high absolute mass fraction (water soluble, ion exchangeable and carbonate bound) of relatively active species (2.029 ~ 4.942μg.g-1) indicates that most of the sediments Arsenic is relatively stable under natural conditions, a small part of arsenic (1.10% ~ 5.55%) is easy to release to the environment, but due to its high absolute mass fraction, it will cause great harm to the environment.
