胡祖德(1860-1939),字云翘、筠翘,晚号问俗闲翁。祖上是著名徽商,约明代中叶来上海,居上海县陈行(今浦东新区陈行)。他师从著名上海史学者秦荣光(炳如),1883年补上海县学博士弟子。他致力收集、研究上海民谚民谣,汇编成《沪谚》、《沪谚外编》,是研究上海方言、俚语、风土人情的重要史料,至今仍被广为引用。近代以前,上海与全国的许多城市一样,是一个农业经济占主导地位的县 Hu Zude (1860-1939), word cloud Alice, Jun Qiao, late ask passers-by.
