A large increase in pig production is an important task in agricultural production. It plays a significant role in promoting agricultural production, increasing farmers’ income, supplying urban and rural meat, developing export trade, and supporting national industrialization. However, the task of boosting hog production in 1955 was not completed. In particular, the number of hogs in the first half of the year witnessed a significant decrease over the same period in 1954. This situation is apparently incompatible with the growing needs of our country and our people and is detrimental to the development of the entire national economy. The reason for the reduction of live pigs in 1955 is that some areas suffered floods in 1954 and did not receive good harvests. Some areas did not pay enough attention to the feed of pigs when purchasing grain, Things have not yet been widely used; some economic and technical work closely related to the development of live pigs have also been made worse, and so on. Although some of them are objective factors, the lack of subjective efforts and the shortcomings in the work of the State monopoly on purchasing and marketing of grain are, after all, an important reason. At present, the enthusiasm of the broad masses of peasants in taking the socialist road is unprecedentedly high. The agricultural cooperative movement throughout the country is entering a climax of vigorous development. The climax of the great development of agricultural production will also follow. This is a favorable condition for the development of pigs. In 1955, the vast majority of agricultural harvests in the region increased the total grain output by 24.4 billion kilograms compared with 1954; and the implementation of grain production, order and sales
