On the occasion of the launching of the “Phobos 1” and “Phobos 2” detectors by the Proton rocket on July 7 and 12, 1988, the Soviet Union invited officials and reporters from 14 countries in the east and west to visit the scene. The French delegation is headed by Paul Keeev, Minister for Communication and Space of France, and Jacques Louise Lyon, Director of the French National Center for Space Studies; the European delegation is led by the Director of ESA, Rimer Lister; the delegation of the United States is led by NASA Deputy Director M. Jiske led. One third of the 33 scientific experiments conducted by the Soviet Union on the “Phobos 1” and “Phobos 2” satellites launched this time were provided by France.
