BACKGROUND: Studies have shown that neuropeptide Y and neurotensin (NT) have important regulatory effects on blood vessels and are closely related to the occurrence and development of essential hypertension. However, the relationship between neuropeptide Y and neurotensin the study. Objective: To investigate the changes of plasma neuropeptide Y and NT levels in patients with essential hypertension and its relationship with impaired cardiac function. Design: A cross-sectional study based on diagnosis. Location, Subjects and Methods: 80 hospitalized patients in the 304th People’s Liberation Army (PLA), 28 healthy volunteers or healthy volunteers were selected as the control group. Radioimmunoassay was used to detect the plasma neuropeptide Y and NT concentrations and to examine the cardiac structure and function of the patients. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Plasma neuropeptide Y and NT concentrations were determined according to the classification of primary hypertension, cardiac function classification, left ventricular posterior wall and ventricular septal thickness. Results: The levels of plasma neuropeptide Y in patients with primary hypertension Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were (101 ± 31), (153 ± 41) and (198 ± 46) ng / L, respectively, with significant difference P = 0.0001). The levels of plasma NT in the three groups were (96 ± 32), (78 ± 31) and (54 ± 24) ng / L, respectively. The difference was statistically significant (P = 0.0001). The patients with essential hypertension were divided into three groups according to their cardiac function classification. Neuropeptide Y concentrations were (112 ± 34), (159 ± 33) and (216 ± 40) ng / L, respectively (P = 0.0001). The NT concentrations of the three groups were (99 ± 27), (68 ± 30) and (48 ± 15) ng / L respectively. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.0001) Exacerbation, neuropeptide Y levels increased, while NT levels decreased. Essential hypertension with ventricular septum and (or) left ventricle?
