在教材和教参的注释中，有许多精彩的译文可供英语教师借鉴、模仿。如第3册第26课中最后一个长句“He said that he thought more of a person who has one idea and makes it work，than of a person who has a thousand ideas but doesn‘t do anything about them．”，课后注释是这样翻译的：他说，比起主意千条而无所作为的人，他更看中一个主意虽不多尔事业有所成的人。如第58课中的一个句子“Herriot knew exactly how they feel when they saw their sick dogs become well again．”课后注释是这样翻译的：赫里奥特能充分体会到人们看到自己的病狗康复时的心情。这些都是很好的范例。但也有一些值得商榷的地方。
