多层交换机是取代传统路由器的高性价比方案,多层交换机可以在100Mbps和1Gbps的局域网中以全线速传递数据,而价格却比传统路由器低得多。 但是,多层交换机实际上是基于硬件的路由器。这些交换机要使用Routing Information Protocol(RIP)或者Open Shortest Path First(OSPF)进行路由计算,所以需要网络管理人员进行端口配置等复杂的工作。 为了解决这个问题,市场上出现了可以进行IP自动配置的多层交换机。通过检查收到的广播数据,交换机可以通过IP自动配置确定本地IP子网和末端工作站的位置。而对于网络设备,这种过程是透明的。
Multilayer switches are cost-effective alternatives to traditional routers. Multilayer switches can deliver data at full wire speed in 100Mbps and 1Gbps LANs at much lower prices than traditional routers. However, multilayer switches are actually hardware-based routers. These switches use Routing Information Protocol (RIP) or Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) for routing calculations, requiring network managers to perform complex tasks such as port configuration. To solve this problem, there is a multi-layer switch on the market that can perform IP auto-configuration. By examining the received broadcast data, the switch can determine the location of the local IP subnet and end station through IP auto-configuration. For network equipment, this process is transparent.
