本文是作者在1995年11月27日召开的“国外铁路技术研究会报告会”上的发言概要。欧洲各国的社会经济状况和铁路经营状况都十分严酷，铁路经营改革是当前的一大课题。另一方面，为了保护环境，旅客和货物从飞机和汽车向铁路转移也是一个重要事实。面对这种状况，铁路部门针对城市间旅客运输、大都市圈旅客运输以及货物运输进行了经营改革及技术开发。本文以客运为中心，介绍了欧洲铁路的最新状况。
This article is a summary of the speeches made by the author at the “Report on the International Railway Technology Research Society” held on November 27, 1995. The socio-economic conditions of all European countries and the state of railway operation are very harsh. The reform of railway operation is now a major issue. On the other hand, in order to protect the environment, the transfer of passengers and goods from the aircraft and the car to the railway is also an important fact. Faced with this situation, the railway department conducted business reform and technological development for inter-city passenger transport, metropolitan area passenger transport and freight transport. This article takes passenger transport as the center and introduces the latest situation of European railways.
