工业润滑油过去没有统一的粘度分类,由于产品和规格不同,粘度分类参差不一,给判别粘度的等级、对照产品之间的规格及选用润滑油等造成困难。国际标准化组织(International Organization for Standarzation)于1975年制定了ISO3448(工业润滑油粘度分类),并研究工业润滑油分类与规格问题,准备制订国际工业润滑油的统一规格。ISO3448规定以40℃粘度为基准,把从2~1500厘沲的粘度分成18个等级,每一级粘度较前一级增加50%,规定各级粘度范围为中心值的±10%(见附表ISO VG分类)。美、英、法等国已经采用了ISO粘度分类,日本的石油商社于78年4月着手研究采用ISO粘度分类,日本工业标准组织于78年6月结合ISO3448制定了JIS K2001(工业用
