With the improvement of the political election system, voters make rational assessments and “economic votes” according to the status quo and expectations of economic development. In order to obtain economic type of votes, political parties often adjust the relevant economic policies or political opinions before and after the election so as to result in the phenomenon of “election cycle.” Cross-Strait economic and trade relations have become one of the important factors that have an impact on the economic and social development of Taiwan. They also have close interactive relations with the election on the island. This paper analyzes the “economic voting” behavior in the Taiwan election and its influence on the cross-Strait policy of parties and the cross-Strait economic and trade relations in the case of the “all five” election.
