Objective To study the time parameters of somatosensory evoked magnetic fields (SEFs) and auditory evoked magnetic fields (AEFs) in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods SEFs and AEFs were measured in 306 patients with acute cerebral infarction using a 306-channel MEG machine. Twenty-five healthy volunteers were also used as controls. Results The most basic waveform of SEFs was M20. The incidence of M20 latency was (23.3 ± 1.5) ms, (21.9 ± 1.3) ms in healthy group and (20.6 ± 1.1) ms in normal control group, and was significantly delayed in patients with P <0.01). The incubation period of AEFsM100 patients was (97.0 ± 6.0) ms and that of the normal controls was (89.3 ± 27.9) ms. The patient group was significantly delayed (P <0.05). Conclusion MEG can sensitively and objectively detect central and functional impairment of somatosensory and auditory cortex in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
