The construction of the tropical western Pacific scientific observatory network is one of the key tasks of the Chinese Academy of Sciences strategic precursor science and technology special project “the exchange and influence of material energy in the tropical western Pacific ocean system.” The tropical western Pacific circulation system has a profound impact on the development of the warm pool, the El Niño / Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the East Asian monsoon, and is of great significance to global and China’s climate change research. With the successful recovery of 15 deep-sea subscripts and data in 2015 and the initial establishment of the largest Western Pacific Scientific Observatory in the world, our scientists obtained a representative year of the tropical West Pacific Ocean covering the upper and middle ocean waters Which is the first time in the world to obtain fixed-point continuous data of high quality and high spatio-temporal resolution in the region, which has filled the gap in international large-scale synchronous observation of the deep circulation in this area, It has accumulated valuable experience for the construction and operation of China’s ocean observation network and played an exemplary role. The network will provide continuous data support for the ocean circulation in our country and its research on climate effects in our country and will enhance the prediction ability of China’s climate and marine environment.
