A study of the identification of ideographs (Chinese words and double words) and phonograms (Hanyu pinyin and English words) by 150 Chinese children and adolescents aged 7-16 with right hemispheres was performed on half visual field. It is found that children of 7-10 years old have the advantage of recognizing Chinese words, double words and Hanyu Pinyin words in the left hemisphere. For Chinese children aged 11-16, the recognition of Chinese characters by children aged 11-16 is still dominated by the left hemisphere , The others are both hemispheric balance, suggesting that Chinese people in Chinese have a changing developmental process in the two hemispheres of the brain in their individual development and will affect the ability of the two hemispheres to recognize phonograms.
