作为武当山最大的石窟,长生岩是明朝成化皇帝亲赐的名字;也是最险的一处石窟。这里曾经还是东汉丹学家阴长生的炼丹室。长生岩,人迹罕至,深藏在五龙峰的峭壁中,许多人误认为是藏身岩。那么,长生岩究竟在哪儿呢?又有着怎样的传奇故事呢?碑刻记载皇帝赐名长生岩在武当山五龙宫碑亭的侧边立碑《敕书》记曰:“皇帝敕谕官员军民诸色人等,朕惟太岳太和山兴圣五龙宫自然庵,乃羽士栖真之所。上为国家祝厘,下为生民祈福者也。其地东至青羊涧,西至西行宫,南至桃源涧,北至明真庵为庵
