[United Kingdom “International Nuclear Engineering” July 1998, p. 2 page] The Kola nuclear power station with 4 VVER-400 nuclear power units is Russia’s first nuclear power station built in the northern part of the Arctic Circle. Most of the power generated by the nuclear power plant is used by heavy industry in the Kola Peninsula; part of the power generation is also exported to Finland. The Kola Nuclear Power Plant is located on the shore of Imandra Lake and is the largest nuclear power plant in Northern Europe.
