1987年国家教委颁布的教学大纲对中国地理的教学要求和教学内容要点作了较大的变动,区域地理部分除保留黄河中下游区和学校所在地的区域作为必学内容外,其余6个区域,作为选授和自学内容。半年来的教学实践证明,这一措施对减少知识量,减轻学生过重负担都起了积极的作用。但在地理教学中如何使用好选授内容,搞好自学指导是一个不可忽视的重要问题。我们的作法是:首先解决认识问题。应当明确新大纲是个过渡性的大纲,在知识量上的调整毕竟是权宜之计。由于多数区域地理知识作为选授内容,有可能使学生产生知识背景不全,地理知识不足的状况,特别会给中国地理总论部分和高中系统地理
