According to a report by Science Daily, a study published in Science magazine found that on average every 50 cigarettes smoked, one lung DNA mutation was produced in each lung cell, according to the New Scientist website. Smokers smoked 20 cigarettes per day for a continuous year and produced 150, 97, 39, 18 and 6 DNAs per lung, throat, pharyngeal, bladder and kidney cells, respectively mutation. This is the first time researchers have quantified the effects of molecular damage on DNA. Previously, epidemiological studies have pointed out that smoking is associated with at least 17 types of cancer. Ludmills Alexandria, Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, USA
