２１世纪的中国文学艺术应该以一种新人文精神作为价值取向。新人文精神以有利于促进当下社会主义现代化建设为现实关怀，并立足于现实发展起来的人文关怀。新人文精神在跨文化的视野中，关注中国的现代化建设，并以此为出发点来处理市场经济建设中的自然与人、科技与人文、物质文明与精神文明的关系。新人文精神关注人的现代化，以提高国民素质和培养现代人格为根本内核。
Chinese literature and art in the 21st century should take a new humanistic spirit as the value orientation. The new humanistic spirit takes care of the reality that is conducive to promoting the socialist modernization drive of the present day and bases itself on the humane care that has been developed in the reality. From a cross-cultural perspective, the new humanistic spirit pays attention to China’s modernization and takes this as its starting point to deal with the relationship between nature and people, science and technology, humanities, material civilization and spiritual civilization in the construction of market economy. The new humanistic spirit pays attention to the modernization of the people, with the core of improving the quality of the people and cultivating the modern personality.
