2004年11月22日,新疆铁路建设史翻开了崭新的一页,精伊霍(精河—伊宁—霍尔果斯)铁路隆重开工。这是新疆第一条电气化铁路,也是新疆5条在建铁路中开工最早、修建难度最大的铁路。精伊霍铁路全长286公里,在精河车站与兰新铁路西段接轨,向西横穿北天山隧道,穿尼勒克县,跨伊犁河谷,经伊宁市,直达中哈边境的霍尔果斯口岸。
On November 22, 2004, the history of railway construction in Xinjiang opened a completely new page. The railway of Jingyi-Huohe (Jinghe-Yining-Horgos) started its grand opening. This is the first electrified railway in Xinjiang and also the earliest to start construction of the five railway under construction in Xinjiang and to construct the most difficult railway.
