As you may recall, more than a year ago, a U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jet crossed the White Sands Missile Range in Mexico State for the first time using a new AIM-9X air-to-air missile to destroy the “ Orion ”sounding rockets. The success of this experiment means that the “Center Air Defense Element” (NCADE) program implemented by the U.S. Defense Agency has made a breakthrough and is likely to become the first “new weapon” for air-based missile defense. AIM-9X, the newest member of the “Diamondbacks” family, played an important role for the first time in space-based ABM experiments and succeeded in one fell swoop, and indeed aroused widespread concern inside and outside the industry.
