Monophosphoryl lipid A (MPLA) is a lipid A derivative of lipid A that is lost by acid-controlled hydrolysis of 1-phosphate (or 1-pyrophosphate). Ribi confirmed that MPLA has substantially lost the toxic effects of LPS but retains the anti-tumor and anti-tumor effects of LPS.
