我国是世界上化肥消耗量最大的国家,不但总量大,按单位面积施肥量计也属高施肥水平国家。然而,与发达国家相比,我国又属于化肥利用率极低的国家,尤其是氮肥。有关资料表明,近十几年来我国投入农业的氮肥折纯有2亿多吨,而其中约1亿吨却挥发到了空气中,或注入地下水,不但浪费极大,而且严重污染环境。对此,中国科学院院士陈冠荣撰文指出,造成这一状况的关键因素是化肥工业发展和农业发展的严重脱节,他指出——
China is the country that consumes the largest amount of chemical fertilizer in the world. Not only is the total amount of fertilizer consumed, but it is also a country with a high level of fertilizer applied per unit area. However, compared with developed countries, our country belongs to the country with very low fertilizer utilization rate, especially nitrogen fertilizer. Relevant data show that over the past decade or so, more than 200 million tons of nitrogen have been put into agriculture in our country. About 100 million tons of it have been volatilized into the air or injected into groundwater. This is not only a waste of land but also seriously pollutes the environment. In this regard, Chen Guanrong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, wrote that the key factor contributing to this situation is the serious disconnect between the development of fertilizer industry and the development of agriculture.
