在科技英语中experiment 是个常用词,但对于这个词与介词的搭配及译法,字典上没有给予明确解释,学生时常搞错。如:将“用青蛙做实验”译成:experiment with frogs。这里介词with 应改为on;相反,“试验草药”却又译成:experiment on medicinal herbs。这里on 却应改为with.因此,笔者想就这个问题谈谈自己的拙见。 Experiment in science and technology is a commonly used word, but for the collocation and translation of the word and preposition, the dictionary does not give a clear explanation, students often make mistakes. Such as: the “frog experiment” translated: experiment with frogs. Here preposition with should be changed to on; on the contrary, “test herbs” but translated: experiment on medicinal herbs. Therefore, I would like to talk about my own humble opinion on this issue.
