Photolysis of benzaldehyde is closely related to its auto-oxidation initiation mechanism during placement. Therefore, it is of great significance to determine the main intermediate of the photolysis process. The whole process of self-oxidation is more complicated, but pure photolysis itself is obviously relatively simpler. In this paper, the spin-trap-ESR technique was used to study the active intermediates of benzaldehyde and its corresponding p-bromobenzaldehyde under ultraviolet and visible light. The primary photolysis process under the experimental conditions was discussed.
