Evelyn Woo’s fourth novel, The Dust, shows the absurd social picture of the loss of social ethics in the early 20th century. After breaking the religious transcendental bond that maintains the legitimacy of capitalist morality, one can not seek moral self-realization. The inner needs of man and the ethics are thirsty for history standing on a “blank zero point.” The original Ethical ideas can no longer confirm a meaningful life, people can only reluctantly live in this world, this cultural sentiment has also become a starting point for some kind of post-modern ethics.
