芮哲非的《谷腾堡在上海》系统研究了晚清到民国上海近代印刷业的发展历程,指出西方印刷技术的引介和中国传统文化的主动选择共同促成了上海资本印刷业的形成。他以新模式解读中国社会转型过程,以国际化的视野关注上海近代印刷的中国特色,提出了“文化街”的新概念,形成了关于出版印刷史的新写法。但是由于其写作是基于问题优先的理论框架,不免在史料的选择上有所臆裁,且对于技术的理解还不够深入,故而白璧略有微瑕。
Ruizhe Fei’s Gutenberg in Shanghai systematically studied the development history of modern printing industry in Shanghai during the late Qing Dynasty and pointed out that the introduction of western printing technology and the active choice of Chinese traditional culture contributed to the formation of Shanghai capital printing industry. He interpreted the process of social transformation in China with a new model, paid close attention to the Chinese characteristics of modern printing in Shanghai with an international perspective, proposed a new concept of “Cultural Street”, and formed a new way of writing and publishing history. However, due to his writing is based on the theoretical framework of problem prioritization, which can not help but make the choice of historical materials, and the understanding of the technology is not deep enough, therefore, Bai Bi is slightly flawed.
