There are many opinions about the formation and evolution of marine salt components in the world. Some scientists believe that salt in early seawater is proportionally similar to the modern ocean. Other scientists believe that the composition of the salt in the oceans has been formed during the Proterozoic, and since then no major changes. The third observation confirms that there has been a periodic change in the composition of salt ions in seawater. Finally, some researchers believe that the total salinity of the oceans is increasing over time. The study of sulfur isotope composition helps to solve these problems.
