著名语文教学法专家。河北任丘县人。1932年毕业于北京师范大学国文系，先后担任洛阳、邢台、桂林等地师范学校和桂林高级中学国文教员。1943年后，先后在桂林师院、保定师专、北京师大、辅仁大学任教。1952年后，在北京师范大学专任“中学语文教材教法”课程的教学。叶氏在40 Famous Chinese teaching method expert.
