忻州地区西山6县自建国以来，共兴建淤地坝1709座，淤地2265．93hm2。通过对淤地坝及坝地的普查，揭示了淤地坝在水土保持上的作用以及经济效益、社会效益；发现了淤地坝发展中存在的问题并提出了改进的措施。
Since the founding of Xinxiang Xishan 6 counties, a total of 1709 silt dam have been constructed with siltation of 2265.93hm2. Through the investigation of check dam and dam land, the function of warping dam in soil and water conservation as well as its economic and social benefits are revealed. The problems in the development of check dam are found out and measures for improvement are put forward.
