Fiber endoscopes use the principle of optical fibers to transmit images and diagnose and treat some diseases. In 1966, Ichida Ikeda first designed and manufactured a fiberoptic bronchoscope and applied it to clinical observation of bronchial lesions, thereby improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. Currently, fiber optic bronchoscopes in China can not be widely used, and the application of fiberoptic bronchoscopes can provide convenient conditions for the examination of nasopharyngeal and larynx. Therefore, our department has applied fiberoptic bronchoscopes to perform 138 examinations for throat examination and treatment since 1978, and has received satisfactory results.
