在花卉很少露面的夏秋之间,唐菖蒲却舒芳挺秀,绽开它那绚丽多彩的花朵,把公园、庭院点缀得美不胜收。“唐菖蒲”一名,来自日本,意思是从中国引进的菖蒲。实际上,唐菖蒲既非我国原产,又非菖蒲之类,菖蒲属天南星科,观叶尚可,其花殊不中看。唐菖蒲则是原产南非好望角的鸢尾科多年生球根草本植物,是经过多次种间杂交育出的重要园林花卉。其茎粗壮直立,株高1—1.5米;叶狭长扁平,宛如一把把刺向蓝天的利剑,使植株显得分外挺拔
