Overview Research on the metabolism of fish energy, in a narrow sense, as part of fish nutrition, is instructive in guiding fish production practices and preparing energy-balanced artificial feeds. However, from a broad perspective, the study of the energy metabolism of animal organisms has evolved from studying the energy metabolism of individuals to the energy conversion and balance of populations, communities, and even ecosystems that contain different levels of diet.
