启功,字元伯,一作无白,满族,姓爱新觉罗。1912年出生于清代皇族知识分子家庭。远祖是满清贵族,其曾祖和祖父都是科举出身的知识分子。由于父亲早逝,家庭中途破落,使启功于幼年失学,后靠勤奋自学和拜名师,使他在古典诗文方面得到基本的训练,因此在童年时便打下了坚实的古文字基础。早年曾从戴姜福学文史词章,后从贾尔鲁、吴镜汀学绘画。六岁起就开始临《九成宫》,十一岁起临摹《多宝塔碑》,约二十岁时开始学赵孟(兆页)的《胆巴碑》,后改学董其昌、米芾,以临写智永的《千字文》时间为最久。他早年的绘画作品,主要是山水画,并有画册流传。风格清秀俊逸的笔意出自恽寿平,富有文人画气息。
