Shanghai has always been a precedent in our country in the protection of industrial heritage. The protection and re-utilization of industrial sites, industrial buildings, etc. at the Shanghai World Expo will once again prove Shanghai’s determination and wisdom in industrial heritage protection. The planning of Shanghai World Expo Park takes into consideration not only the overall functional layout of the World Expo on both sides of the Huangpu River but also the protection of industrial heritage as the top priority. The work covers all aspects of construction demonstration, investment and economic analysis, functional research and follow-up. The research on the demolition, alteration and relocation of the historical factory in Binjiang is carried out. By reforming and utilizing the historical factory and meeting the functional requirements and spatial shaping of the Expo, the spatial characteristics and cultural heritage of this area can be continued and developed. How to protect and utilize the old buildings has also become an important part of the theme of the Expo, and the construction of exhibition venues using the old buildings is a powerful exploration for the sustainable development of cities and the protection and renewal of industrial heritage.
