表现主义究竟是一种具有广泛性的艺术情境,还是一个具有确切指向性的艺术形态呢?我们对表现主义艺术究竟应该狭义地理解还是广义地理解呢?如果说狭义的理解会造成局限性的话,那么广义的理解也很可能使一个概念失去实质价值。本文试图以威廉·沃林格的学说和表现主义画家对哥特式艺术风格的延承为切入点分析表现主义艺术与北欧民族的传统艺术风格之间的联系并进而论证表现主义艺术作为特定艺术形态的内在实质。
