荔枝是亚热带果树,果圆形,果皮多数有鳞斑状突起,颜色多呈鲜红色或紫红色。果肉新鲜时呈半透明凝脂状,味香美。最早产于我国,是我国的特产。据记载,南越王尉佗曾向汉高祖进贡荔枝,到汉武帝筑扶荔宫,把荔枝移植到长安,没有栽活而迁怒于养护人,迄今为止,已有二千多年的历史。唐代诗人张九龄曾为荔枝作赋,其中一句“每至夏季,其实乃熟,状甚瑰丽,味将甘滋,百果之中无一可比。”由此可见,荔枝从古至今,一直被人们津津乐道。诗人苏东坡就非常喜欢荔枝的甘香清泽,并有“日啖荔枝三百颗,不辞长作岭南人”的佳句流传于世。
