长臀隶属于硬骨鱼纲、鲇形目、长臀科,是东南亚特有种类,分布于中国南部的广东、广西珠江水系、海南岛的南渡江和昌化水系、云南的元江水系以及越南的红河水系。当前长臀苗种获得主要通过野外捕捞,通过人工催产来获得苗种的技术尚未突破。笔者曾对长臀进行人工催产实验,激素用二次注射法,采取半干法 Long-tailed  is a member of the genus Teleostichia, 鲇-shaped head and long-tailed gynuraceae.
