在我所认识的经济学者中，观点和我最相近的是科斯(R．H_Coase)。他和我都强调：“若不知道事实的真相，就很难用理论去解释事实。”这观点牵涉到很广泛的科学方法论——持有不同观点的学者大不乏人。纯以方法论的角度去评理，谁是谁非并不简单，但这不太重要。用实践研究的角度来衡量，则科斯和我一向喜欢追查数字资料以外的事实的作风，在行内是比较例外的。
Of the economists I know, the closest thing to me is R.H_Coase. He and I both emphasize: “It is hard to explain the truth in theory without knowing the truth of the facts.” This view involves a very broad scientific methodology - a large body of scholars with differing perspectives. Judging purely from a methodological point of view, who is not is not simple, but it does not matter. Measured from the point of view of practical research, Coase and I have always liked to follow the fact that other than digital data is more exceptional in the industry.
