在乌勇布拉克盐湖首先被发现硝酸盐类沉积矿物,并已探明KNO3资源量88.40×104t[1],是我国目前最大的硝酸盐类矿床。1硝酸钾矿床形成阶段盆地周边砂砾石孔隙水及泉水普遍含K+和NO3-离子,乌勇布拉克盐湖水资源补给最主要为地下水径流量124.14×104t/a,降水量116.95×104t/a,蒸发是其唯一的排泄方式,但蒸发最为268.96×104t/a,水均衡为27.87×104t/a。
