Objective To investigate the clinical significance of serum cystatin C (Cys C) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in patients with severe preeclampsia. Methods 35 patients with severe preeclampsia were selected as experimental group and 35 normal pregnant women as control group. The levels of Cys C in serum and TGF-β1 in urine were measured. Results Serum levels of Cys C and urinary TGF-β1 in patients with severe preeclampsia were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P <0.01). Serum Cys C level was positively correlated with urine TGF-β1 in patients with severe preeclampsia (r = 0.581 , P <0.05). Conclusion The detection of serum Cys C and urinary TGF-β1 levels in severe preeclampsia is helpful to evaluate the degree of renal dysfunction and has some guiding significance for the diagnosis and treatment of severe preeclampsia.
