Zero error occurs When the vernier caliper of the two feet together, the zero scale on the vernier ruler should be aligned with the zero line on the main ruler. To measure the length of an object, place it between the two legs and against it. At this moment, the distance between the zero line of the vernier ruler and the zero line of the main ruler equals to the length of the measured object, and its value can be read by combining the main ruler and the vernier ruler. However, due to manufacturing inaccuracy or the use of time, the wear of the contact surface and other reasons, when the two feet together, the zero scale on the ruler and the zero mark on the main ruler does not overlap. Zero line on the main ruler shall prevail, zero scale on the vernier ruler may be left
