A few years ago, the argument that oil was about to dry up was rampant. The fact that oil and gas reserves have been growing year by year in recent years seems to make people no longer have time to understand this statement. Although it is certain that oil and gas will be exhausted some day in the future as a non-renewable fossil energy source, the current situation is still gratifying worldwide. In 2011, global oil and gas reserves showed a slight increase. The world’s proven reserves of oil was 208.22 billion tons, an increase of 3.4% over 2013.77 billion tons. The proven reserves of natural gas was 189.7 trillion cubic meters, an increase of nearly 1.4%. Everyone is happy to see that even though the bigger piece of cake is only placed on a plate that may not be enough, as long as the cake is there, the solution will always be there. Therefore, we need to make a rough estimate of the global oil and gas resources.
